The Tahoe-Pyramid Trail Building contractor and advisors will be construction on the final link of the one-mile section in May 2019. This “final section” of the Truckee Canyon (Hirschdale to Verdi) will complete this section of the trail and remove the problematic detour around Floriston that included a section that included forced travel on the Hwy 80 shoulder.

This final section has the most difficult terrain of all trail sections and will require the building of a long boardwalk above the river and along a very sheer rock face along the north side of the Truckee River. This section of the river is called “HogBack” by the whitewater river rafters and kayakers skilled enough to pass this section.
