The Tahoe-Pyramid Trail was launched by Janet Phillips in 2003 and incorporated as a 501(C) (3) nonprofit organization. It is primarily led by an all-volunteer non-paid staff consisting of a Board of Directors and supporting advisors, with an even larger community of trail workers, trail stewards, event planners, and financial supporters and contributors. In June of 2023, TPT added two part-time paid positions; the President/CEO and the Administrative Assistant.
