TPT Photo Contest Entries

This is our fourth year hosting a photo contest featuring images submitted by you, our supporters, including walkers, hikers, donors, and cyclists along the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail (TPT). We use these photos throughout the year on social media, in newsletters, and during presentations. A little fame naturally comes with it!

With a camera right on your phone, capturing and sharing memories from a day on the trail has never been easier. Photograph a beautiful sunrise or sunset over the Truckee River, trees reflected in the water, or friends and family enjoying a hike or bike ride. We have also received some incredible wildlife photos taken along the TPT. There are amazing views everywhere, so keep your eyes open. Each season brings its own unique beauty.

When taking a photo, try capturing the scene from several angles. Most people see a great shot and immediately take it, but consider experimenting with both landscape and portrait orientations. Move a foot or two to either side and see how the composition changes. Take your time and have fun with it. Sometimes, of course, the best photo is a quick shot of a fleeting moment you had no time to plan.

If you would like to learn more about photography, I have found the following video helpful and informative. It may inspire you to experiment with different perspectives and discover new subjects to photograph.

In the past, we’ve had categories such as people, landscape, and flora/fauna. This year, we are going more freeform. Take the pictures that excite you and that you think people want to see, that highlight the TPT.  Please submit your entries to the following link:

Thank you to all who participate. We look forward to your entries. Winners will receive a special award for their winning photos. It’s pretty cool!  The deadline to submit your photos is November  29th.
