On Saturday, Oct 10th, 2020 at Fleish Bridge, Tahoe-Pyramid Trail supporters, volunteers, and Board Members dedicated the ‘James Michael “Mike” Phillips’ Memorial Plaque and Bench to honor his memory and his 17 years of unwavering trail support.

About 25 people attended the dedication, many of who spoke and shared their numerous positive experiences working with Mike over the years. All relayed their personal gratitude and the shared sentiment of the high regard which everyone held for him.

The site for the memorial plaque and bench was selected to honor Mike’s love and enjoyment for this section of trail, where, for over 9 years, Mike personally maintained the trail section extending from the Fleish Bridge to the smaller bridge that crosses the Truckee River water diversion flume (aka “Fleish Powerhouse water supply ditch”) about a 1/2 mile downstream.

And despite a dismal weather forecast for high winds and a bit of rain, it turned out to be a lovely afternoon to honor Mike’s memory and his many contributions to the trail.

And in true TPT tradition, “cookies and lemonade” were enjoyed by all.

Below are a few of the photos taken at the dedication:
