Ann Conlin, TPT's Treasurer and Secretary

Volunteer Receives Prestigious Nomination

The Governor’s Points of Light Awards are Nevada’s most prestigious volunteer recognition, celebrating Nevada’s brightest volunteers and volunteer organizations. It is the sole statewide recognition event for volunteerism and service. Tahoe-Pyramid Trail’s board member Ann Conlin is a nominee for the award in 2022—congratulations Ann!

Ann joined the TPT team in 2013 as Treasurer and Secretary. In that role, she tracks our income and expenses, and manages our invested money and cash flow. Over the years, Ann has stepped up to handle many diverse tasks, including representing TPT at public events, chairing the Financial Committee, improving our policy manual, and adding a spark of fun to meetings. Prior to joining the TPT leadership team, Ann was involved with other non-profits, including Silver State Striders and Reno Area Triathletes.

We are lucky to have Ann on our Board!

As exemplified by Ann and other key members of the TPT Leadership Team (seven Board Members and six Advisors) a few dedicated volunteers make this organization succeed. We would love to have new participants with fresh ideas and diverse backgrounds. If you are interested, please come to a monthly meeting and see what we do, or call Janet for a chat (775-825-9868). A specific background area that we need at present is land, real estate, rights-of-way, title research and public road access.

Thank you, Trail Adopters!

Weeds have been growing like mad along the trail (and everywhere) and thankfully, our 16 trail adoption teams have kept them nicely trimmed. The adoption program involves a group of 3-5 friends or colleagues who commit for 2 years to care for a section of trail. Current adopters (listed from west to east) are:
  • IGT Core Studio, Reno
  • Reno Tahoe Geo Associates, Reno
  • Alissa Hamann and Cory Maier, Truckee
  • Ross Collins and Friends, Truckee
  • The Dukes and Duchesses, Reno
  • Robison Engineering Co., Sparks
  • Via Seating, Sparks
  • Tahoe Forest Therapy Services, Truckee
  • The Sachtler Family, Reno and Truckee
  • First United Methodist Church, Reno
  • The Jackalopes, Reno
  • Coasties of Tahoe, Tahoe City
  • Randy and Amy Collins, College Cyclery, Reno
  • Sierra Club Great Basin Group, Reno
  • Eclipse Pizza, Reno
  • Granite Construction, Reno/Sparks
The adoption program is coordinated by a special volunteer, Ron Papson. Ron started by adopting a section of trail with his fellow IGT retirees but then stepped up to coordinate the whole program in 2021. (Special shoutout to Gabe and Trisha Strouse who coordinated volunteers for years before moving away.) Thankfully, Ron stepped up to become one of the vital individuals who make TPT possible. If you would like to adopt a trail section next year, please drop a note to info@tahoepyramidtrail.org.

Downtown Reno Bike Lanes

The City of Reno recently reduced traffic lanes on Virginia Street to one lane, southbound, from 5th Street to Liberty Street. This pilot “micromobility project” also includes bike signals, parking buffers, and bike boxes. The concept was originally requested by the downtown Row Casinos. Because Virginia Street intersects the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail, it will help UNR and Midtown cyclists reach the TPT more safely.
