TPT Trail Tracks June 2023

With summer coming, there are more bikes on the roads and trails. Maybe it's because of Bike to Work month, weather changes, more e-bikes, or people just enjoying the freedom a bike provides. It is great to see! I've gravitated to the TPT through downtown over the past few weeks. Seeing and hearing the rush of the river is uplifting to the spirit.

Reno is blessed with a strong adaptive sport program, thanks to April Wolfe. They just expanded at the Rosewood Nature Study Area with a hub for adaptive equipment rentals. They have a large selection of adaptive bikes and it's right off the Connector Trail off Veterans Parkway and easy access to the Greg Street bike ramp to the Truckee River via the TPT. Reno downtown is also going to be seeing some major repairs on the trail this summer. We will keep you posted on social media when we know the dates and area. Way to go, Reno! We just keep getting better and for you bike commuters using the TPT, thank you!
~ Mary Beth Roselli, Board President TPT

Welcome Mark Cameron
as our New Executive Director!

Mark moved his family to Sparks in early 2005 after accepting a position at the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority where he worked for over 15 years. He then spent the last 3 years as the Executive Director at KTMB. Mark has spent many hours donating his time with the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce adult Leadership Reno/Sparks (LRS) program, most recently as a Board Member and President of the Board for the Veterans Guest house. Mark has also enjoyed being one of the hundreds of volunteers who have helped at KTMB clean-ups and Christmas tree recycling sites over the years. He enjoys gardening, camping, hiking, skiing and has a particular interest in cycling. During his years of working, you could find him commuting on the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail from Sparks. It's a natural fit for him to join us as the Tahoe-Pyramid Trails first Executive Director. Welcome, Mark!

 Trail Maintenance Improvement

The winter conditions have created some unique issues along the trail, and we're busy with our trail repairs. We've been able to have many sections cleaned up and we want to thank our contractors for their expediency in getting the trail back in good shape. And we couldn't do it without our many generous supporters and donors. Thank you, thank you for being there for the TPT! We appreciate the awareness and support from our TPT friends and community.

As a reminder, you can report problems on the trail right from our website:

Another Great Cookie Ride in the Books!

Thanks to all the wonderful riders, bakers and friends that participated in the recent Cookie Ride! It was a beautiful day to spend with our fellow cyclists, enjoy some delicious cookies, and chat about the trail. We look forward to seeing you along the trail again soon!

RTC Verdi Community Meeting

Many community members from Verdi, TPT board members and Procrastinating Pedalers supporters attended a recent meeting regarding a multi-modal study being done by RTC. TPT Board Member Cheryl Surface, who is also a Verdi community member, spoke about some of the issues with traffic and the TPT trail, which RTC will include in their study. We'll post more information about it on our website when we know the results of the study.
