Celebratory Cookie Ride May 22

Join the Fun! Each year individuals, families, riding clubs, running clubs, and friends' groups celebrate the trail's Mogul-Verdi Trail opening in 2005 by planning a ride or run ending at Crystal Peak Park in Verdi. Celebrators are warmly greeted and served fresh homemade cookies and lemonade as everyone enjoys an opportunity to mingle with other riders and sample the delicious treats.

Farewell to Mike Traynor
Trailblazing TPT Volunteer

The TPT Board is sad to announce the heart-felt loss of Mike Traynor, a long-time board member and friend. Surrounded by family, Mike passed last month after a struggle with pancreatic cancer. He will be missed terribly by all of us. The Tahoe-Pyramid Trail is incredibly lucky to have had Mike’s dedication and talents for the past six years. Mike’s title was “Communications Chair,” which has a broad scope: brochure development and distribution, sign design and installation, Facebook, Instagram, website management, event planning, exhibit displays, merchandising, and monthly newsletter. Additionally, it has been typical of Mike to say “I’ll do that” for anything and everything that comes up in an all-volunteer organization. These will be big shoes to fill, but please step up if you see one task you can tackle.

Ghosts of the Truckee River Canyon

The TPT is steeped in California and Nevada history. Learning about the trail's rich past can add interest and appreciation to your ride or hike.

"Ghost of the Truckee River Canyon" was written by Tom Macaulay for the Truckee-Donner Historical Society and briefly highlights more than 40 historical towns and features along the trail. Enjoy this fascinating read and "walk" back through the history of the Truckee River Canyon between Truckee and Verdi.

The next time you walk/bike this section of the TPT, try to spot some of the spots mentioned in the article. Better yet, snap a picture and post it on our Facebook page.

$20,000 Granted to TPT

The Tahoe Pyramid Trail was granted $20,000 from the Nevada State Parks Recreation Trails Program. The grant will be used for the engineering, design, and permitting for work underway of five miles of trail from Sparks to Mustang.
