Trail Events (Partially) Resumed

After many cancellations in 2020, several traditional trail events resumed in 2021 and will hopefully continue in 2022:
⦁ “Cookie Ride” from Reno to Verdi was a big success, partly due to pent-up demand for cookies!
⦁ Truckee Thursdays returned as one of our best attended exhibit venues.
⦁ “Ride the Rez” was held on a chilly dry day in October.  Thanks to Procrastinating Pedalers for sponsoring the ride.

Trail Improvements

⦁ Long-delayed donor plaque was installed at Floriston thanks to generous support for completing the Truckee-Verdi canyon.
⦁ Gravel was imported to Floriston to firm up the muddy section on old highway 40 above the river.
⦁ Additional railing was added to the “hogback ridge” for the comfort and safety of new trail users.

Eastbound Push

Although the TPT team has been investigating routes to extend the trail east from Sparks to the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center for many years, efforts took off in 2021 with filing a permit application with UP Railroad and a series of collaboration meetings with partner agencies.
If all goes well, permits and approvals will be complete in 2022 and construction launched  in 2023.  Stay tuned for updates
