December 2021 News

2021 Is Almost Over
Have You Given to TPT Yet?

This is the time of year that most nonprofits reach out to their donors one last time, despite multiple requests during the year. At Tahoe-Pyramid Trail, we only send ONE DONATION LETTER EACH YEAR, and if you haven’t given by November, we remind you gently by email and this newsletter.

Ways to Donate to TPT at year-end

For our Century Circle donors ($100), we have this annual guessing game: if your initials are below, that means you are a regular Century Circle donor, but we haven’t heard from you yet this year. If you’re not sure the initials are yours, don’t hesitate to call or email us:

EA, MA, JA, JB, SB, OB, MB, KB, TB, LB, EC, TC, KC, JC, RC, CC, PC, CD, DD, TD, WD, KE, JG, GG, DG, KG, RG, AG, CH, HH, DH, KH, SH, JI, MI, RJ, TJ, SJ, MK, TK, RK, JL, BL, DL, CL, GM, KM, PM, EM, AM, SM, JM, MN, GN, HO, SO, TO, RO, MO, DP, KP, CP, RP, AP, NR, BR, KS, RS, MS, TS, SS, ES, CS, JS, BT, JT, JV, TW, MW.

For our donors who are over 70½ and receive those pesky Required Minimum Distributions from your IRA, but don’t need the money…… you can donate some of it to TPT and avoid this taxable income!

Legacy Circle members are donors who have included the TPT in their will or estate plan. Be sure to let us know so that you will be invited to our next VIP event (mark you calendars for March 16, 2022).

The new Millenial Circle ($1000) established in 2021 already has 25 members for the year! Thank you all, and tell your friends!

Special One-Time Match for Trail Repair!

During the “atmospheric river” rainstorm last month, the trail west of Floriston suffered some erosion damage that needs repair. The trail is safely passable, but a long-term fix is recommended so that this modest damage doesn’t become a major trail collapse in the future. The cost estimate is $20,000 to do the job right. Two long-time donors to TPT have each committed $5,000 toward the repair, with the expectation that others will match their generous contribution. Please aim high for a donation to this vital work.

TPT Volunteer Highlight
Mike Traynor

The Tahoe-Pyramid Trail has been incredibly lucky to have the dedicated help of Mike Traynor on our Board for the past six years. Mike’s title is “Communications Chair,” which has a very wide scope: brochure development and distribution, sign design and installation, Facebook, Instagram, website management, event planning, exhibit displays, merchandising, and monthly newsletter. Additionally, it has been typical of Mike to say “I’ll do that” for anything and everything that comes up in an all-volunteer organization. He is taking a leave for health reasons and will be sorely missed. These will be big shoes to fill, but if you see one task you could tackle, at least on an interim basis, please step up!

TPT Recognized for 100% Board Giving

The TPT Board of Directors recently received recognition for 100% Board Giving from the Community Foundation of Western Nevada for the 12th year in a row! In addition to countless volunteer hours, all TPT Board members make a personal financial contribution each year. Please join them and make your gift now!

Nevada County's "Pines to Mines Trail"

Nevada County Board of Supervisors voted in November to move forward with its regional cross-Sierra trail called the “Pines to Mines Trail”. It will connect Truckee (pines) 80 miles to Nevada City (mines) when completed, connecting to the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail in Truckee. Congratulations to trail advocates of Nevada County.
