trail updates

Illegal Campsite/Campfire at Fleish Bridge
In this time of extreme fire danger, you would think everyone knew NOT to have campfires in the forest. Also, our permission to cross TMWA’s property with the trail specifically excludes camping. Please pass this on to anyone with visions of camping along the trail. If you see an illegal campsite, please report it to the controlling organization of that site (law enforcement, TMWA), or use the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail "Report Trail Issues" form:
https://tahoepyramidtrail.org/report-trail-conditions/ - Let's keep the trail fire safe!

Parking at Farad Blocked
The few parking places at Farad have been blocked by Caltrans construction materials. There are pullouts on eastbound I-80 nearby, or Floriston has ample parking.

TPT in the news

Nevada Sports Net recently took to the Trail for a story about the history, present, and future of the Trail. The article is accompanied by some beautiful video and drone footage by Brian Kulpa, so be sure to check it out! You can view it here.

upcoming event

The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada is hosting its annual Family Estate Planning Series starting Sept. 15 until Nov. 3. This weekly informative series of talks is about how to create a legacy with your assets that will benefit the people and causes that matter to you. To sign up and get more information, go to the Nevada Fund website (click here). Tahoe-Pyramid Trail will be the featured nonprofit on Oct. 27.

trail video

If you liked the video above, check out this one made by Ric Frost which covers 80% of the Trail! Recently updated to include each completed section, if you've been wondering what other sections of the trail look like, now you can find out! You can view it here.

volunteer spotlight

Many volunteers help to make TPT success. Some are heavily involved, while others help with single tasks, but all are important. In future issues we will be highlighting our volunteers and how they help keep our organization running. We are always looking for help and if interested in volunteering please call President Janet Phillips  at 775-825-9868 or visit our website for more information (click here).

This month's volunteer: Megg Mueller
I've been creating the monthly newsletter for TPT since 2019. I attended the annual kickoff event that year, and was inspired to help promote this incredible trail anyway I could. I'm a journalist, so when looking over the ways I could help, this was a great fit. I was born in Reno and when I learned about TPT's mission to share the Truckee River's beauty via this trail I was hooked. I'm a hiker and a mountain biker, and while I haven't ridden every mile of TPT, I have covered the lion's share. My day job is as publisher/editor of Nevada Magazine, and I get so excited when telling my readers about this world-class trail that will one day run between my two favorite lakes. My tasks take just a few hours a month and I encourage anyone wanting to help to get in touch with Janet...there are so many things that can be done to help, and most don't take much time.
Please report trail conditions to our website—we depend on trail users to keep an eye on things: tahoepyramidtrail.org/report-trail-conditions/  To see ALL trail condition notes, please visit tahoepyramidtrail.org
