News From the Trail

Trail Tracks

It seems as if we have five seasons in Reno. I would call this the “windy season” we are in. I went up to Truckee to x-country ski a few weeks ago and as I got out of my car, a gust came and just about knocked me to the ground! I got back in my car and said no way but the driver next to me said to stay in the trees and you will be fine. He forgot to mention all the pine needles under those trees were all over the tracks but it still was a good day!

It’s funny how we love tailwinds while riding a bike, but when the table is turned and we are riding into a headwind, nature makes us work hard for those miles. Sometimes you just have to laugh when you are struggling, no matter if it’s the wind, the rain, or some other force of nature because in the end, when you do finish after a hard ride, there is always that feeling of accomplishment and you can smile at Mother Nature and say, we had a good day, didn’t we!

Happy Earth Day, April 22nd!
