now recruiting adopters

If you think the tools shown at right look like fun and are familiar—you could become a 2021-2022 trail adopter! This program uses small groups of volunteers to take care of an assigned section of trail—usually ½ mile to 1 mile. The biggest tasks are weed whacking and trash pickup.

Trail adoption is a two-year commitment, and children under 18 are not allowed under our insurance. If you are interested, please let us know soon, because the trail season is approaching fast! Please reach out to us at this link.

THANKS TO THE 14 TEAMS ALREADY ON BOARD!
Please report trail conditions to our website—we depend on trail users to keep an eye on things: tahoepyramidtrail.org/report-trail-conditions/  To see ALL trail condition notes, please visit tahoepyramidtrail.org

trail conditions

ICE! Due to the deep shade upstream of Floriston, there is persistent ice on the trail and boardwalk. Please be extra careful!

DETOUR AT SPAGHETTI BOWL: If you plan to ride or walk from Reno to Sparks, please know that the road department has closed the trail under I-580, and posted a detour. Details can be seen at tahoepyramidtrail.org/verdi-to-reno-sparks/

CONSTRUCTION ON TRAIL: During March-April there will be carpentry work at the Floriston boardwalk, as reported last month, and also boulder removal just downstream of Floriston. We hope to keep the trail open despite the work, but this needs everyone’s cooperation to succeed.

publicity and people

Only in Nevada is an online publication which featured a terrific story about the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail in its February 24 issue. Read it at onlyinyourstate.com/nevada/tahoe-pyramid-trail-nv. If you see any media mentions of the Trail, please let us know so we can share it in the next newsletter!

Oops—Missed thanks from last month! In the February newsletter we thanked the 2020 volunteers, and accidently missed Tim and Nick Shannon, who were instrumental in installing the memorial plaque for Mike Phillips! Sorry!  Also, thanks to Reno Parks for snow removal at Mogul!

Bingo Perseveres! Our long-time supporters at Midtown Wine Bar (thank you, Tony) continue to offer Bingo on Thursday evenings despite the pandemic operating limitations. The Tahoe-Pyramid Trail receives proceeds from these fun events.

If you would like to know more about adopting a section of trail, please visit tahoepyramidtrail.org/contact. There are opportunities to adopt a new section east of Sparks, or to relieve a long-time adoption team in the California Canyon.
