trail conditions

MUD! Prior to our recent snowstorm, and predictably also again in a few weeks, there is deep mud on the trail, with the worst near Floriston on the old roadbed. Please, when these conditions exist, go to a different trail section or go in the morning while the ground is still frozen. The deep ruts created will not only make a mess of your gear, but also require repair in the spring.

DOGS! Please keep your dogs on leash and pick up their feces! Really, someone left dog poop on the beautiful wood deck at Floriston!

SNOW! Philip Dalto gets a big THANK YOU for shoveling snow from the Mogul-Verdi Link trail.

BOARDWALK CONSTRUCTION! During much of February and March there will be carpentry work at the Floriston boardwalk. We hope to keep the trail open despite the workers, but this needs everyone’s cooperation to succeed.
Please report trail conditions to our website—we depend on trail users to keep an eye on things: https://tahoepyramidtrail.org/report-trail-conditions/  To see ALL trail condition notes, please go to our website: https://tahoepyramidtrail.org

trail scouting by drone

Greg Bernstein of Tahoe Drone Ops generously created a drone video of the next section of trail in the planning stages: Sparks to Mustang.
His drone capability included following our orange-shirted volunteer jogger, Nathan Robison of Robison Engineering, who traced our hoped-for route on foot. This tool will allow us to see  ground conditions and obstacles without making too many field trips.
Robison Engineering also deserves thanks for donating so much of the engineering time needed for extending TPT.

2020 volunteers

Every year, 70-90 people help the Trail, and earn heartfelt appreciation. This year, the COVID pandemic made it exceptionally difficult to volunteer, so thank you everyone! For 2020 helpers, we have ballcaps generously donated by Rick Goebel of North American Embroidery. (For anyone who missed their 2019 T-shirt, please call Janet at 825-9868.) Here they are—thank you everyone!

If you would like to know more about adopting a section of trail, please write to info@tahoepyramidtrail.org. There are opportunities to adopt a new section east of Sparks, or to relieve one of our long-time adoption teams in the California Canyon.
